Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!!
Monday I opened my first 12 days of Christmas present. We feel like our area has become very slow. I think with Christmas people are so busy, but the people are so kind too. It was also the week of finals. I really like the Christmas season and how it changes peoples hearts. It really opens people up. Monday on P-day we bought our companionship unity item.. its a one piece. It is awesome!! I hope you get the attached photo of it. I can't wait to snowboard in it someday. We got a phone call that night saying that one of the YSA, Erik, was in a car accident and in a coma. He is the reason we are reading Jesus the Christ. He has been in-active and so we all started reading it together.
Tuesday!! Wow what a good day. Jonas is now in the Elders hands in Utby and he has a baptismal date!! We are so happy for him. He has truly been lead to the church. We need to find people that are in our area haha. Its fun though. In the past month we have given the Elders 6 people and 3 have been baptized and 1 has a date for Jan 1st. This Christmas season does something to people. I don't think at home I really noticed that much of a change but being here I can see it. I sure love it though. Tuesday the 13th is Lucia day in Sweden. I didn't understand the whole fuss, but it ended up being really cool. Its basically they are celebrating the light of the world and they call her Lucia when it is actually Christ. Interesting.
Wednesday we had district meeting. Right after it ended we got another call and Erik had woke up and wanted a blessing. The Kungsbacka Elders did the blessing because they are currently really close with Erik and his brother because his brother is investigating the church right now. It is a miracle Erik is still alive. We went to see him too and drop off letters from a bunch of people. He also asked for a Book of Mormon haha I couldn't believe that I was the only one with one on me. We were of course more than happy to give him one. We are so happy that his first thing when waking up was to ask for a blessing and asked for a Book of Mormon. He told us he feels more alive then he ever has. He knows that God is watching out for him. He also talked about how blessed he is. I couldn't believe it!! We are praying really hard for him. We found out yesterday (Sunday) that he will have his second surgery today (Monday) and they hope to save his legs and feet. He has been told that he may loose his feet. They say that the bones in his feet are basically powder. Right now he has so many bars and bolts in him.
Thursday went not according to plan. Ha ha I love to plan the night before and then get back the next day and see how things changed. Missionary work rarely goes "according to plan" but its so much fun. The funny part is we would be lost without our plan that never actually goes. Planning is so essential. I don't know what I will do when I go home and don't have someone to plan with. I think I will still plan. Not sure about weekly planning though. So I read in 3 Nephi 2:1 and learned the difference between miracles compared to wonders and signs. Miracles are brought by faith and they are for the faithful. They will be remembered and will strengthen your faith more. Wonders and signs will be forgotten because they are only to convince the people with no faith.
Friday was weekly planning and we have decided to move our focus to the in-actives in the ward. We have seen so many miracles with people coming back and then them doing missionary work. Then I finally picked up my package. I now have all the packages mom. Even grandmas package. I even got a letter from some of the girls in the ward. Another from my visiting teacher. The first presidency of the church. I loved it! It is amazing to me how many people are out there supporting the missionaries and me personally. I wish I could re-pay everyone somehow but I guess the best thing I could do it just work my hardest. So thank you to everyone who has prayed for me and written me. I really appreciate it! That night at the center they had a Julbord. Which is just a Christmas dinner. It means a Christmas table directly. I really don't like Christmas food in Sweden. It consists of Meat balls, potatoes, cardboard bread, Julmust or Glögg, hard-boiled eggs, and sill, which is like pickled fish.
Saturday was spent in Denmark again. I have been so blessed to go to the temple 3 times already. Especially when this area hasn't been allowed to visit the temple because of travel time. It takes a total of 6 hours on a train and that the fast train too. I have yet to visit the temple here in Sweden, but the Denmark temple is beautiful and I have really grown to love it. I have done 2 sessions in Swedish now and that has been awesome!! It was a weird day because we talked to a lot of people on the streets and we would speak English. Then I think.. it shouldn't be weird to speak English. Ha ha crazy stuff.
Sunday we talk a girl the law of chastity and why we are modest. She is amazing. She started meeting with the Utby Elders but came to our ward because her best friend Danielle is in the ward. (I have heard Danielle is in a picture with me on my facebook. She is moving to Provo in a month) This girl rocks. Even though Danielle didn't come she was so happy to be there and has such a strong spirit. She really wants to know the truth and follow it. It is really a rare thing here in Sweden to find young people interested in church.
