I still can't believe I'm training.. I'm
totally a mom! Usually when you have a baby it takes 9 months..no I got 2
weeks.. haha no but my baby rocks!! Her name is Sys.Strömberg and she
is from Sweden!! Jönköping to be exact. She is amazing.. where to begin
really? She made her own CD and gave me one. Her mother is from England
and so her English rocks to listen to and imitate. I love her swedish
too because she has the Göteborg accent! Best one in Sweden.. in my
opinon.
Every
time I imitate her she then says, "Are you mocking me?" Agh man I love
it. It makes me miss Talitha a lot and everyone in Göteborg. Last week
was quite possibly the biggest highlight of my mission with Mikael
getting baptized to traveling to Göteborg by car! Staying in Alingsås
again and seeing TONS of members and investigators. We even got to have
dinner with one of my favorite families in Sweden! The Sahlin Family.. I
just feel at home when I'm there! I think I experienced every emotion
possible between last weekend and through out the week.I was so sad to
see S.J. leave but happy to get a swede as my comp too. It was the first
time I have actually cried when a transfer came. Geez intense.. things
just became super real super fast. I got to Stockholm 9 weeks ago and
then saying goodbye to S.J. at the train station made me realize how
fast time goes by because in 9 weeks it will then be me leaving but not
just to another area in Sweden. I feel like uneasy a lot of the time
because I don't know how to handle going home and feeling like I don't
want to really and yet I miss it too and I'm sure Sys.Strömberg things
I'm always this crazy haha poor thing.
This week in Preach my Gospel has been focused
on how to be a better teacher. Basically what the 12 week training
program is having us do. It feels so good to be with Sys.Strömberg!! She
knows the language and yet still gets nervous. I have to remember there
are tons more things to worry about than just the language. She is
doing so so well though. In the white handbook has been started over due
to a new companion of course. It felt super super good to start again
though. We both loved reading about the awesome calling we have as
representatives of Christ and what our purpose is.
A scripture that touched me this week is actually
Sys.Strömbergs favorite scripture. 1 Nephi 17:50-51 God has created
everything and can do all. So why wouldn't he be able to instruct me so
that I can train a missionary. I want whatever we do to help
Sys.Strömberg grow the very most and then go home and continue to be a
missionary. I want her to love it so much that she makes the gospel a
priority through the rest of her life. Because who knows if she doesn't
have a chance to serve a full-time mission. But I have come to realize
that for me when I say I live the gospel that includes sharing it. One
of my goals is that all members realize that and have a desire to do it
just as much as they want to take the sacrament every week.
Yesterday was one of the coolest things ever. We
were going to knock on a door that was a referral from an investigator
in Handen 1 and we both knew she should be the one to lead it. Before we
walked up to the door she said a prayer and asked that know matter what
happens we could feel good about what we had done. A woman came to the
door and wasn't sure who we were talking about. We went to our bikes and
she came back out asking if we meant this other person and it was him.
She went back and got him to come to the door. He came out and really
doesn't have any interest but Sys.Strömberg was ready with a card before
he could shut the door. We then asked a quick question to keep talking
and were able to bare testimony to him about God and the Book of Mormon.
He was happy we have found God but doesn't care to try himself. The
best was we could walk away honestly knowing that we did what we could.
We both felt the spirit and I hope that he will reflect on our words
until he decides to do something about it! Its those little everyday
things that happen that I forget are so BIG. Having a new missionary has
been such a blessing to me already.
Thank you so so much for all you all do for me!!
Love Syster Sprague
