Nära och Kära
We have had a fun week here in Västra Frölunda. We made a goal in contacting 4 people each everyday and of course we can go over. So with the 3 of us we contact 12 everyday. We started before conference on Wednesday so to get the standards of excellence was really cool. We are asked to contact 10 everyday. We are happy to go up and over! Really it only makes sense... we have one more person.
I started writing in my miracle journal in Swedish. It has been lots of fun. We have lots of goals as a companionship. I love it. We really push each other, which is good. I feel like I'm going to learn a lot and that the time will pass too fast. S.Mackey is an amazing leader. She has a lot of ideas and is really good at implementing them. S.Ridl really hasn't changed since the MTC. She is still just as amazing and has the translation for every word. I absolutely love it. Its amazing to me that one or two different people make your whole area a new place. I feel like this will be my favorite part of my mission and then everything will go down hill. ha ha ha I do feel like it could happen, but I won't let it. There are many things we don't have control over, but you always have control over your attitude and if you have a good attitude everything seems to work out. Even when things are hard it gives you light at the end of the tunnel.
For our zone conference we talked about how to build our faith. The funny thing is I walked out feeling like I had good ideas of how to strengthen and build my faith, but more then that how to gain a desire to have faith. I never knew how to answer that. Many people don't have a faith in anything but they have a desire to... so that is easy. Give them Alma 32 and they figure it out.. but what if you don't even have a desire to have faith in anything? I have found MANY people in Sweden who are content and happy with life that they don't need faith. I will write up next week what I have come up with and if you read this and have ideas I want to hear it!! How do you help someone gain a desire to have faith?
We have an amazing family we just started working with. Gisela, a single mother of 3 who used to be a member. Then her brother Steve who is a less-active.(reminds me of my own brother) They are coming back and it is soo neat to watch! We didn't even teach the word of wisdom and she quit drinking coffee on her own. Her kids miss us already when we don't come too. We have a date set for Gisela to get baptized if she really did write herself out. Its sad but we hope she did write herself out. Then she and her little girl can get baptized the same day. Syster Mackey, Elder Nelson and Elder Anderson all spoke in church yesterday. They spoke about how to gain a testimony and live the gospel and then our spiritual and physical sides and how they work together. We just taught Gisela the Plan of Salvation and whey we needed to come to earth. She was glued to every talk given. I really hope that she can find her testimony! Tony has been really busy so he has yet to be baptized, but we are still working with him.
Happy Birthday Steven!!!!! I'm sorry I missed it last week but it was only yesterday so I hope your not too bummed. I hope you had a good birthday! I love you!! I can't wait to be back next year and we can celebrate together again. :)
Love Syster Sprague
