Nära och Kära
Alingsås is doing amazing! Syster Erickson and I have seen a lot of success and many miracles.
I have found much more joy in speaking Swedish. Except that I can't do the accent so even now people sometimes like in the grocery store will respond in English to me. They can hear that its not my first language. Before it never bothered me but Syster Erickson has instilled a desire in me that I want everyone to speak Swedish to me, but I try not to be frustrated by it. I just continue speaking their language while they speak mine.
Saturday was probably one of the best days of my mission. It felt like everywhere we went we were being lead and we were able to really be tools in the work. I'm so happy to be here in Sweden serving the Lord and so excited to see many of his children excepting the gospel. We met with a woman Saturday night that is so prepared! She said, "I'm going to read this book and read it and when I do I'm going to come up stairs and were going to discuss it. She is amazing! She also lives in our same apartment so that makes things super easy. One thing that I loved was she said you know if what your saying is true then everything else isn't like the catholics are wrong. We were like uhhh yeah we know. Haha she was just like okay. She was confused also why she has never heard of Joseph Smith. You could just see she wanted it to be true and felt that it was.
Saturday we also found out that door bell ditching is not somehing done in every culture. We did it because some elders at one point were not very nice to a lady and we teach her son so we wanted to apologize. We went over with a bag of fruit and chocolate and a letter. We left it and run. Pretty sure I have done this many times in my life but we weren't sure what would happen. They come from Serbia and have lived here a while now. She called us and asked us to come back actually and wanted us to come in and talk. She said she saw the stuff and she was kinda scared becasue no one was at the door but then it was kinda fun when she read the letter. She is actually a really sweet lady and want her whole family to be in the same church so she says she's going to really give it a try. We'll see what happens!! I'd say cross your fingers but thats not what we do here.. so hold your thumbs
My goodness a Swede emailed me. That was awesome! Thank you Peter. I actually know the Stode family from Halmstad becasue that was my first area. Now they live in Alingsås so we are together again. I actually had dinner with them last night. I love them! Their daughter Josephin is the president of the center in Göteborg so I was with her my time in Västra Frölunda. Its been fun to have them apart of my whole mission so far. Thanks for what you said. I loved it, "Be fixed in your purpose for Satan will try you, the weight of your calling he perfectly knows." I have seen that already. Thanks again. I will talk to my district leaders this week too they are in Trollhattan.
I got your package. It totally rocked! Thanks Jennifer and Brandy. So they sent me CTR rings that you make yourself. We painted them for district meeting on Thursday and the elders loved it. We ended up with 6 people though so I gave one to everyone else and took pictures of it. I painted my actual CTR ring a little... no worries though.. it comes right off haha. Linda sent me a package also it was awesome. Funny story though. We went to eat the chocolate she sent but I couldn't do it. Its so so so gross!!!! Man I had to spit it right back out. Coming here I didn't think anything was all that different, but I think going back is going to be quite the shock and I can never eat chocolate again. Super sad.
Thanks for your hard work. Thank you so much!
